Salzburg – a small paradise
Hardly any country is so diverse and has so many attractions to offer, such as the Salzburg. Experience intact landscapes with spectacular waterfalls, nature parks, romantic mountain pastures and refreshing lakes or visit the idyllic wildlife parks with the opportunity to learn about native species in their natural environment.
How about a trip to the past? The city of Salzburg is only an hour`s drive from Bad Hofgastein and with the museums, castles and palaces offers a treasure trove of impressions: for example the 900-year old fortress Hohensalzburg, the Residence Salzburg in the heart of the old town, Castle Hellbrunn with the famous fountains or the Castle Hohenwerfen with the impressive mountain panorama… just to name a few.
If you want to learn more about the history of Salzburg, visit the salt mines in Dürrnberg. Salt used to be described as “White Gold” and it is true that the deposits created millions of years ago in the Dürrnberg, near Hallein have provided the region with its treasure chamber.
In Hallein, the oldest mine in the world open to visitors, everyone from the age of four up can take part in a treasure hunt – and follow the mysterious, ancient miners’ tunnels for many kilometres into the mystical mountain.
